Our Board of Christian Mission supports a wide variety of non-profit organizations, including Covenant to Care (that provides support for young unwed mothers statewide), eight shelters in the Hartford area, The Hartford Christian Activities Council, Trust House (a Hartford center for remedial education and job training) and the Hartford branch of Habitat for Humanity. Other contributions from the mission budget support the Heifer Project, the Village Poultry Project in Togo, the United Negro College Fund, Church World Service and the UCC’s wider mission.

The Board of Christian Mission also manages funds that support elderly Bloomfield residents with significant financial needs. Examples include contributions to the local Visiting Nurses Association, individual contributions and contributions to the Bloomfield Department of Social Services for the purchase of wheel chairs and a program of social activities at the town Senior Center.

The Mission Board organizes the Church’s traditional preparation of Thanksgiving baskets for needy Bloomfield families and at Christmas, the Board organizes a collection of toys for Covenant-to-Care children. Once a month the Mission Board members provide snacks and refreshments to workers at the local Habitat for Humanity Projects, two of which have been in Bloomfield.
